Science Camps

At the Science Center we know that children learn most effectively when they are having fun!  Each year we host a variety of fun, engaging, and educational Science Camps that mix “science” and “silly”.  Each camp is geared to a particular age group and ensures that your child is suited to the material and the other participants.  For 2010 we are pleased to offer extended hours to work around your schedule.  Parents now have the choice to have their children participate during the camp hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm or use our extended hours, to better work with their schedule.

Regular camp pricing is $25/day for members and $30/day for non-members for activity hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm.  For an extra $5.00 parents can now extend camp hours until 5:00pm.  Need early drop-off or late pick-up? Our staff is available from 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday-Friday, and we can care for your child.  Extra hours can be added to the regular full day rate for $5.00 an hour.

To ensure that we have the staffing needed to give the best possible care & attention to your child, we do ask that all camp participants register in advance.  Registration is limited to 25 per camp.  All other registrations may be wait listed in the event of availability.  Children may be registered for 1, 2, or all days of a camp separately except for Crime Lab.

  • June 28-July 2: Diggin’ Dinos, 3+. Can’t get enough dinosaurs? We’ve got the camp for you! Come dig for your very own dinosaur fossil, learn how to make an imprint cast, and identify species and living habits from your skeleton.

  • July 12-16: Space Camp, Ages 3+. Think you’ve got what it takes to withstand space? We’ll find out.  Join us for space camp, where you’ll see first hand what it takes to go up in the great beyond.  Learn about propulsion, magnetic fields, planets, and black holes, and experience you’re very own space flight.
  • July 19-23: Spectacular Structures, 5+. It’s easy to take them for granted, but structures help to give our world, well, structure!  Come to camp and learn all about bridges, skyscrapers, quake-proof homes, and more.
  • July 26-30:  Science Showcase II (Sports Science, Art Science, Music Science, Magic Science, & Cooking Science), Ages 3+. The second in our Science Showcase, this week is filled with fun and exploration.
  • August 2-6: Gross-ology, Ages 7+. The name says it all!  This camp focuses on the weirdest, foulest, grossest experiments collected by our certified experts in GROSS.  Learn how polymers and non-newtonion fluids can be the ickiest creations ever, and pick up some science along the way.
  • August 9-13: Science Showcase III  (Paleontology, Geology, Egyptology, Spy-ology, Bubble-ology), Ages 3+. The last Science Showcase focuses on several branches of science and is focused for a younger audience.  Children will get a chance to excavate bones, locate and identify minerals, mummify a “pharoah”, uncover secret clues, and bounce bubbles in their hand.  Perfect for “Little Scientists” who need to stay busy.

All children need to bring a sack lunch with them to camp.  Children staying for extended hours should also have a snack.
